--- Cytat: Piotrqs Quendi w Marzec 30, 2007, 09:18:22 ---I believe that we all are making a mistake not translating word "exodus" at the beginnings of the sentence.
We all are now translating this sentence like me would describe exodus expansion it self.
In that case sentence would be more like:
"Exodus - pilot your own spaceship through an amazing graphic universe while, fighting, trading and communicating with other players."
Well, we are now a little time after exodus expansion, and it really won't say anything to a potential customer (except former exodus players). I think that word exodus should be translated, or even adapted to the whole  sentence.
It's important to know intention of Orbis or CCP in using word exodus.
1) exodus - expansion,
2) exodus - massive emigration,
3) exodus - leaving your work, family to play EvE  ;)

i agree with you.. we should now what they want to say by this word..either is this a trademark and should be left as it is or should be translated somehow.. as i tried to do in my text..

--- Cytat: Kal w Marzec 30, 2007, 10:15:38 ---1 Jako zwolennikowi gramatyki deskryptywnej ciezko mi powiedziec czy "swoj wlasny" to "blad jezykowy" skoro jest tak powszechnie uzywany, nawet w oficjalnych publikacjach, ale tu sie chyba mozemy klucic wieki. :)
No ale ok, jesli ten "swoj", uzyty w celu podkreslenia, az tak razi to mozna go wywalic.
--- Koniec cytatu ---

Hehe, zgadzam się, kwestia preferencji osobistych (i tego jak nas nasi mastahowie na uniwerku łajali za takie cudeńka ;))

--- Cytat: Kal w Marzec 30, 2007, 10:15:38 ---2 Exodus is the name of the product so i see no point in translating the word. ( again my opinion )
--- Koniec cytatu ---

I agree with the above. If it is indeed a product name, and thus what's called a proper noun, then translation sop is to leave it as it is.

--- Cytat: Kal w Marzec 30, 2007, 10:15:38 ---3 "Okret kosmiczny" is rarely used (if ever  :P), "statek kosmiczny" is common. Btw What would you use to describe industrials or freighters? Those ships are not "warships"  ;)

--- Koniec cytatu ---
Yes, the difference exists practically only in Polish and can be found either in specialized literature or naval literature (s-f).

Kalressin:
Ok lets end this, because we could argue for months ;D Orbis wants a fast answer not a week of disputes  ;D
Let’s stick with White Haven's version. Not very accurate :P but I think It would really sound good in an advertising text.

So:
Exodus, zostan pilotem wlasnego statku kosmicznego w oszalamiającym graficznie swiecie. Walcz, handluj i rozmawiaj z tysiacami innych graczy.

And with pl characters:

Exodus, zostań pilotem własnego statku kosmicznego w oszałamiającym graficznie świecie. Walcz, handluj i rozmawiaj z tysiącami innych graczy.

Oh and Orbis: Some ppl choose to ignore polish characters on forums, internet communicators or while sending text messages because they want to type faster or because they are lazy. :)
But an advertisement without them will look rather silly.

White_Haven:
Yes, Kal is right about putting it on the landing site without Polish characters. It would look weird.

Hmm, i think one can change the sign coding of one's browser to Central European to show Polish characters but I may be wrong on that.

theorbis:
Rgr that Kal ;)

And thanks everyone !! This was very helpful. I will post the link to landing page as soon as it is ready so you can check it out.

Best Regards,
The Orbis
